A Great Start to a Groovy New Year
Lockeland Design Center kicked off the first day of our 2009 - 2010 school year with a bang! As you can see in this photo our "Magical Mystery Tour" began with all the teachers and staff members dressed in tie-dye shirts or groovy attire. You could feel the magic in the air. I love the color palate of this era and think you'll see it integrated into many of the art projects the students will produce this nine weeks. For starters you can expect to see every child's version of a peace symbol with a written statement of how they plan to be a "peace maker" at home and at school. Next you will see each child's self portrait created from wood, fabric, and paper. The "Magical Mystery Tour" Curators (thank you Michelle Sharp and Sara Blakeman) are already thinking of fantastic ways to display these works at Lockeland. Come aboard with us and look for more information to come home with your child's papers next week. Also, show up for the Volunteer Breakfast on the morning of the Thursday, the 20th to receive your Mystery Tour Guide for Volunteering in the art room - or just read the post below and contact Shannon Truss.
